Learning Pods
Working with the North Star Network and Allina Health System in the Twin Cities, BUOY Foundation will serve as one of eight learning pod sites designed to close the academic achievement gap by providing support for families and young scholars in this distance learning environment.
The North Star Network (NSN) is a collaboration of African American organizations that came together to respond to the educational needs of children in the Twin Cities of Minnesota as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the initiatives is the establishment of Learning Pods, a community-based program offering safe spaces where students can get supplemental learning. This program is available for students grades 1-8.
The Free Learning Pod will be available starting on Monday, December 7th from 7:30 a.m-4:30 p.m.
While at the pods:
- Scholars will receive guided supplemental tutoring and academic support
- COVID safety guidelines will be strictly followed
- Zoom-based tutoring will be available
- Individual access to a computer and WIFI
- Free breakfast and lunch provided
- Engage in socially distanced interactions with other students
- COVID-19 guidelines and protocols will be followed at all time
